Camargo Junior Program - 2010
The Camargo Racquet Club Junior Program for 2010 has a new look!
The levels and descriptions of our after school clinic programs will allow
parents to better navigate the placement of their child into our program and
to track their player’s advancement through our program. The
tremendous growth of our Junior Program in recent years has prompted us to
expand the number of Tennis Professionals who are involved in actively
managing each Junior Development level.
At Camargo, we offer many social and competitive Junior tennis playing
opportunities and events. We believe that the best pathway to improve
includes quality clinics, quality private lessons and challenging match
play. We are committed to offering the best instruction in the
area. Our goal is to positively challenge kids to compete in a safe
and rewarding environment. Camargo Racquet Club is committed to
maintaining a student-teaching pro ratio of one pro for every 4-7 students.
Tony Fanning, Camargo’s Junior Program Director, will focus on the overall
synchronization of our program to ensure that your junior player is included
in every activity our Club has to offer. To set up a parent-player-pro
meeting at any stage of your child’s progress, feel free to contact Tennis
Staff Director Chris Thatcher (email)

College Tennis
Development (Formerly Level 1): Chris Thatcher |
|
|
|
The goal of this program is to develop and attract
top players throughout the Cincinnati area who seek to
further their tennis careers once they have completed
High School. Athletes in this group will be
talented, self-motivated players with Ohio Valley
rankings or higher and will participate at the
invitation of Chris Thatcher. All aspects of high
level tennis will be taught. Stroke production
with relation to control, power, spin and how to best
use those skills to set up and finish points will be the
primary focus of this skill level. Participants
will also be trained in stress management techniques and
maintaining emotional control under pressure.
Because physical fitness and conditioning is
essential to the future college player, tennis-specific
conditioning drills will be used to increase the
player’s speed and stamina.

(Formerly Levels 2 & 3) |

The goals of this program are twofold:
#1: To develop the teenager into a competitive Junior
Varsity or Varsity high school tennis player.
Doubles strategy will be an important focus in this
group, as most high school players play doubles.
Much time will be devoted to improving rally
consistency, stroke production and use of spin.
#2: To offer the teenager who plays multiple sports an
appropriate playing level where he or she can develop
the skills required to become an excellent social tennis
player for life. At this level, introductory
drills relating to setting up and successfully finishing
points will be introduced.
